Money comes in, and you split it across envelopes such as Groceries, Rent, or Savings. Spending comes out of the envelope it belongs to. Each envelope shows what is left in it right now.

No. Balances carry forward with no monthly reset. Whatever is left in an envelope stays there until you spend it or move it to another envelope.

Unassigned holds money that has not been put in an envelope yet, such as income before you split it and imported transactions with no better match. Your total balance includes it, so your envelopes add up to your bank.

You link a bank through Plaid. A newly linked account starts from its current balance, and new posted transactions import after that. Each one lands in a best-guess envelope (your rules first, then the spending category, otherwise Unassigned) and waits in Transactions for you to confirm it or change the envelope. Pending transactions wait until they post.

Banks in the United States that Plaid supports. Checking, savings, cash management, and credit card accounts are imported.

Two-step verification with an authenticator app is required before linking a bank, so a stolen password alone cannot reach your bank data. You can add a second authenticator as a backup in Settings, under Two-step verification.

A rule is a keyword and an envelope. Imported transactions whose description contains the keyword go to that envelope, still waiting for your review. You can make a rule from an imported transaction with Make a Rule.

Yes. In the transaction form, choose Add Split Envelope and divide the amount. The splits always add up to the transaction total.

Once the web app is live at app.vimabudget.com, you will be able to open it in Safari and choose File, then Add to Dock, to use it like a Mac app.

No. It needs an internet connection, and your budget stays in sync across your devices while you are online.

In the app, go to Settings, then Delete account. If you cannot sign in, email us from your account email address. The Delete your account page has the details.
