Terms of Service | Envelope Budget

These terms cover your use of Envelope Budget by Vima ("Envelope Budget", "the app") on iOS, Android, and the web, and this website. The app is run by 30 South LLC ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

Who can use Envelope Budget

You must be at least [DECIDE: minimum age, such as 18] and able to agree to these terms. Envelope Budget is meant for people in the United States [DECIDE: the countries where the app is offered]. You need your own account, and you are responsible for what happens in it.

What the app does, and what it doesn't

Envelope Budget is a tool for planning and tracking your own spending with envelopes. It is not a bank, does not hold or move money, and does not give financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Decisions about your money are yours.

Balances and transactions imported from your bank come from your bank through Plaid. They can be late, incomplete, or wrong, for example while a transaction is pending or after a bank changes one. Check anything important against your bank.

Your account and its security

Keep your password and your authenticator to yourself, and tell us right away if you think someone else has used your account.
Two-step verification with an authenticator app is required before you can link a bank.
Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your email address current so you get security emails.

Linking a bank

Bank connections are provided by Plaid Inc. When you link a bank, you sign in to it inside Plaid Link and agree to Plaid's handling of your data under the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. Only link accounts you are allowed to access. You can unlink a bank at any time in the app.

Subscriptions

Envelope Budget requires a subscription after a trial period. [CONFIRM: trial length, prices, and billing periods, once the paywall is set up.]

On iPhone and iPad, subscriptions are billed through your Apple account and managed in your Apple account settings.
On Android, subscriptions are billed through Google Play and managed in the Google Play app.

Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next charge. Refunds for App Store and Google Play purchases are handled by Apple and Google under their policies. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through Apple or Google; cancel it there too.

Acceptable use

Don't:

use the app to break the law or to access accounts that aren't yours;
try to get into other users' data, probe or attack the service, or get around its security or limits;
copy, resell, or build a competing service from the app; or
use bots or scripts to create accounts or overload the service.

If you find a security problem, please tell us at support@vimabudget.com instead of testing it on real accounts.

Your data

Your budget data belongs to you. We use it only to run the app, as described in the privacy policy. You can delete your account and your budget and bank data at any time; a few security records are kept for a limited time. See Delete your account.

Changes and availability

We work to keep Envelope Budget running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available or work without errors. We may change or stop features. If we make a significant change to these terms, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings, then Delete account). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other users or the service at risk, and we'll tell you why unless the law or security prevents it.

Disclaimers and limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, the app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions made based on information in the app. [CONFIRM: limitation of liability wording and cap, after legal review.]
